background: the recovery of areas impacted by mining activities is a major challenge and requires knowledge how biological biochemical processes soil as well establishment plant species are affected residue. in this work, influence deposition iron mud tailings on attributes initial development tree seedlings was studied simulated event greenhouse. pots (n = 27) with natural (2.0 kg) received (280 ml) or three-month cultivated urochloa decumbens. at end period, part sampled were evaluated. then (schinus terebinthifolius eremanthus incanus) planted for year, when shoot (sdw) roots (rdw) dry weight results: did not affect microbial biomass carbon basal respiration, however both conditions reduced (p < 0.05) β-glucosidase up to 30%, easy extractable glomalin about 19%. addition, sdw rdw s. 21% 24%, respectively. nevertheless, uruchloa decumbens incanus had no variation production between treatments, so they have good ability grow settle conclusion: study shows that sequential planting u. e. can be an alternative use environments tailings.
